Anci Ideali and City of Genoa organise the conference "The frontiers of new citizenship"
The Foundation ANCI IDEALI, in conjunction with the municipality of Genoa and the research centre on European policies “Maison de l’Europe” of Paris, organizes on the 29th of September a conference on urban issues in light of the next informal meeting among the 27 EU ministers for urban affairs to be held in Marseille between November 24-26. Mayors and functionaries of national and European institutions, as well as urban planners, journalists, and academics will debate on crucial themes for European cities. The conference shall deal with themes related to urban development and new citizenship with reference to the following significant variables: the immigration fluxes and the worrying demographic ageing, which affect several European countries; social cohesion via the processes of participation and social inclusion; the role of the media for the affirmation of an integration model capable of opening up to new inputs and cultures. In conclusion of the working sessions, the organizers shall discuss, together with the functionaries of the European institutions, on the necessity of setting up a new political agenda tailored on the needs of urban areas with the aim of introducing; new policy instruments in favour of a sustainable urban development to render our cities “centres of competitiveness and social inclusion”. |
